Episode 3: Autumm - Chapter 2

“Where are they?” asked the rebel Elite. “Where are the rest of your… team?”

“What do ya mean?” replied Victor, out of breath. “You can’t find ‘em yourself?”

“Regrettably, no,” replied the Elite. “You’re equipment is insufficient for our needs. We cannot track them. Tell us where they are, heretics!” The Spartans had been stripped of their armor, tied up together inside of a tent, a few Grunts and Elites with their guns pointed at the captive group.

“Master, master!” cried a Grunt as he stumbled into the tent. “We got the equipment to work, we see demons!” The Elite gave the Spartans a smug look.

“Good,” he said. “Everyone get equipped and ready for battle. I’ve had a terrible history with Spartans, and they will not be killed as swiftly as many of you may think, even if they are small in numbers.” The Elite picked up and Energy sword. “Have the captives killed immediately.”

“Hey, Anne!” exclaimed Evan. “I think I found something!” It was midnight, and both Spartans were running stealthily through the jungle.

“What is it?” questioned Anne.

“I have the rest of the team on my GPS. They’re somewhere in the blind spot.”

“They must be in a rebel camp, the area is scattered with them.” The group of two where close to the camp.

“Here, I can even see it,” said Evan, as they stopped, looking at the camp through the dense foliage. “They must be hiding or something; they’re not moving.” As the Spartans grew nearer to the camp, they noticed something strange. The whole camp was blown to pieces; tents burnt into smoldering piles of metallic cloth, supply cases torn apart. Something big had happened here.

“What are we supposed to do now?” whispered Jack. “They’re about to kill all of us!” Both Spartans were at gunpoint, about to be executed, and the rest of the group was going to be ambushed.

“Don’t worry,” replied Victor. “I’ve got a plan. Maybe if, as the Grunt is shooting, we shift our position- hey, wait a minute, where’s Carmine?”

“What?” exclaimed Jack? Just then, an Elite fell to the floor, and before the other could react in time, both it and the Grunt were assassinated. It was Carmine. He untied the Spartans.

“How did you-“

“Quiet!” interrupted Carmine. “The rest of the camp has no idea. See that?” Carmine pointed towards the power core in the middle of the camp. “If we plant a grenade in the insides of that thing, it’ll destroy the whole camp, along with all these uglies.”

Carmine picked up a plasma grenade. “Jack, do you think you can fix this grenade to detonate after a longer time?”

“You know it,” said Jack, with relief of being tied up. He got to work on the plasma grenade as Carmine and Victor made sure the coast was clear. “Okay, I got it all set up. Once live, it should detonate in about 10 seconds.”

“Good,” replied Carmine. “That should be more than enough time.”

——————————————————————

“Hey,” said Evan.” I’m picking up movement from the others!” The two came up to one of the tents, cautiously, with weapons at the ready. “Hello?” The three other Spartans walked out of the tents, completely intact, with their armor on. “What happened?”

“Well,” explained Victor. “We were captive, and we were about to get killed, right? And all of a sudden, Carmine came up and snapped all the bastards’ necks, and so we tried planting a grenade in the power generator, which exploded and killed all of the buggers. The funny thing is, when the engineers fixed our armor so the rebels could find you guys, they also fixed up the blind spot, so the crevasse is visible now. It’s not that far.”

“Good,” said Anne. “We should move quickly and quietly. I don’t want any more surprises.” And with that, the group set of for the crevasse, in hopes of finding what they were looking for…
